Welcome to It's Not Our Fault!

We are a new campaign working towards the fair and equal rights of disabled people, including those at pre-pension age.

Disabled people are discriminated against in many forms and by many sectors including the Government, Benefits System, Employers and different sections of society.

Here are a few interesting facts for you to consider:

• Poverty affects disabled people more than any other group.
• Disabled people have additional costs in most areas including disability aids, food, clothing, household expenses, recreation and travel costs.
• Current benefits don't reflect these costs.
• Not all disabled people are entitled to help with Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and NHS Prescription charges.
• The Winter Fuel Allowance does not extend to all disabled people.
• People with mental health problems are still experiencing discrimination within the workplace, benefits system and different service providers.
• Benefits, especially the lower rate mobility component of Disability Living Allowance, doesn't cover the costs of taxis and other transport needed to reach places local bus services don't.
• While the Government believe that employment is the key to resolving poverty, in the case of those who are unfit and unable to work, that is simply not an option.

The Government has yet to address and act on these issues, meanwhile more and more disabled people face ongoing discrimination and poverty.

We feel that it's time the Government stopped ignoring the problems disabled people face and did something about it.

By joining our campaign, you can help us to spur the Government into action and get them the make the much-needed changes disabled people, in our opinion, are entitled to.

Whether you are disabled yourself, have loved ones who are disabled, are a carer or simply feel strongly about the issues we have raised, we welcome your support.
